Over three consecutive projects, Social Ventures Australia (SVA) partnered with Reconciliation WA (RWA) to strengthen its strategic direction, organisational capability, and impact measurement. This collaboration spanned the development of a five-year strategic plan, a maturity review to align resources with future needs, and the creation of an impact measurement framework.
By engaging the same team across all projects, Reconciliation WA benefited from deep organisational understanding, continuity of insights, and trusted relationships that accelerated delivery and improved quality. Together, these initiatives position Reconciliation WA to advance reconciliation in Western Australia and be the facilitator of a state-based shift.

Overall impact
The three projects have significantly strengthened Reconciliation WA’s capacity to lead reconciliation across Western Australia. The strategic plan sets a clear five-year roadmap for advancing reconciliation. The maturity review ensures the organisation has the right structure, resources, and financial sustainability to achieve its goals, and the impact measurement framework provides a way to track progress and support meaningful communication with stakeholders. This integrated approach, supported by continuity of the same consulting team, has created a foundation for long-term impact and organisational resilience.
Background
Reconciliation WA plays a critical role in driving reconciliation across the state, engaging communities, organisations, and government to foster understanding and action. As the organisation prepared for its next phase of growth, it sought expert support to define its strategic priorities, align its internal capabilities, and measure its impact. SVA was engaged to deliver three interconnected projects that would position Reconciliation WA to lead a state-wide shift toward reconciliation.
Vision and objectives
The shared vision across all projects was to enable Reconciliation WA to advance reconciliation in Western Australia through a clear strategy, strong organisational foundations, and robust impact measurement. Objectives included developing a strategic plan for 2025–2030, reviewing organisational maturity to align resources with future needs, and creating a framework to measure and communicate impact. Together, these components strengthened the organisation’s ability to plan effectively, make informed decisions, and demonstrate progress over time.

Role we played
Social Ventures Australia worked as a trusted partner across all three projects, bringing strategic expertise and a collaborative approach. Our team conducted research, facilitated workshops, and engaged staff and board members to co-design solutions. We developed a theory of change, strategic priorities, and implementation plans; assessed organisational maturity and financial sustainability; and designed an impact measurement framework. Continuity of the same team ensured insights from each project informed the next, reducing duplication and building deep relationships that enhanced outcomes.
Outcomes
Reconciliation WA now has a strategic plan aligned to community priorities, a maturity review and financial model that support organisational readiness, and an impact measurement framework to track progress. These outcomes provide clarity on where the organisation is heading, confidence in its ability to deliver, and tools to demonstrate impact. The continuity of the same consulting team across all projects created efficiencies, strengthened trust, and ensured a cohesive approach that will enable Reconciliation WA to lead reconciliation efforts in Western Australia effectively.
SVA played a powerful enabling role in building Reconciliation WA’s new strategy – corralling so many voices post referendum into clear pillars aligned to the five dimensions of reconciliation. This important work has given us the strategy, capacity and impact we seek to lift Reconciliation WA to the next level. I thank our passionate team at SVA for taking the journey and guiding us – with twists and turns along the way.”Jody Nunn • CEO Reconciliation WA
