Early Years Catalyst – Synthesis
Summary of evidence and systems insights generated through the Early Years Catalyst's detailed body of work.
From 2021 to 2024, the Early Years Catalyst brought together diverse voices and perspectives across the early years field to build a shared understanding of the systems that impact young children and families. Through four major ‘evidence-gathering’ projects, the Early Years Catalyst identified key challenges within these systems and possible strategies to address them. These projects included:
- Systems mapping process
- Systems landscape atlas
- Evidence for action report
- Mental models deep dive
The insights from this work are captured in a series of reports and the webinar recording below.

The final webinar of the Early Years Catalyst (2024), marks four years of progress in building capability and addressing knowledge gaps in the early years field.
It features guest speakers from Social Ventures Australia, ARACY and The Front Project, as well as the Early Years Catalyst Co-Chairs. The event reflects on the Catalyst’s four-year journey from the National Early Years Summit in 2020. The speakers share key insights from the Early Years Catalyst’s four major evidence gathering projects and look ahead to what’s next.
Social Ventures Australia (SVA) was one of twelve founding members of the Early Years Catalyst and also served as the backbone organisation providing ongoing leadership and coordination. As the Early Years Catalyst has now formally concluded, SVA is hosting key publications from this initiative to ensure this rich evidence base remains accessible to the field
