Sam Thorp

I believe that the not-for-profit sector, while accomplishing great things, still has tremendous untapped potential to improve lives across Australia. SVA gives me the opportunity to assist organisations to create greater impact and help others more effectively.

Sam is a Principal, in the Consulting team and has over a decade of experience in the charity and not-for-profit sector.

He has expertise in disability and broader social sector reform, with data analytics, financial modelling, revenue diversification, and outcomes measurement as particular areas of interest. He is the co-author of the Pay What It Takes report as well as the first Partners in Recovery report. His work has included supporting the DSS ‘A stronger, more diverse and independent community sector’ reform, leading the Disability Housing Outcomes Framework, assisting in the creation of the outcomes framework for the ILC funding scheme, and leading the internal SVA Innovation Hub team.

Prior to SVA, Sam held diverse roles across Australia, Sweden, Singapore and the United Kingdom. He was previously at London South Bank University, where he built relationships between academics, businesses, and the third sector.

Sam holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Science (Hons), and a diploma of Innovation Management from the University of NSW, and is a graduate of Singularity University.
