Susie King

Susie is the Executive Director in the Consulting team, providing functional expertise in the areas of strategy, business planning, service design and scaling.
She also leads SVA’s family violence practice. Susie has 20+ years of experience working as a strategy consultant in Australia and overseas across the public, private and social sectors. She also has deep knowledge, expertise and client relationships in the justice, First Nations, child and family services, homelessness and philanthropic sectors. Susie has led a number of high-profile projects at SVA, including the Blueprint to double structured philanthropic giving across Australia by 2030 which was taken up by the Productivity Commission as an inquiry in 2023. In addition, Susie co-led a large, multi-year project to support the partners of the Paul Ramsay Foundation to survive and thrive through the Covid-19 period. Most recently Susie led a review of the crisis response to domestic, family and sexual violence in the ACT and a research project for the Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee focused on understanding the impact of government payments on victim survivors of family violence.
Susie joined SVA after more than 15 years overseas working as a consultant for McKinsey & Company in London and the United States. Prior to joining McKinsey in Melbourne, Susie worked as a solicitor in a large corporate firm and as a policy advisor for two Health Ministers in the Victorian government. Susie serves as a non-executive director on the Boards of a number of not-for-profit organisations. She is currently Deputy Chair of the Board of the Brotherhood of Saint Laurence, a national not-for-profit organisation focused on an Australia free of poverty. She also serves on the Board of WEstjustice, a community legal centre in Melbourne’s west, and is Chair of the Board of Mortgage Stress Victoria, a newly established community legal centre which helps Victorian homeowners in debt stay in their homes sustainably.
Susie holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Melbourne as well as a BA in History and Fine Art. Susie is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
