Principal, Consulting (VIC)

Doug Hume

What I love is that at SVA I get to work on issues that matter, together with a passionate and intelligent team, and with organisations who are leading the change we need to see in Australia.

Doug is a Principal in the Consulting team, and joined the SVA in 2017.

He has expertise in business planning, strategy development, outcomes management, and organisational effectiveness. Doug also leads consulting’s First Nations practice and has worked on a diverse range of projects in his time at SVA. Major projects include developing a revenue diversification strategy for a large non-profit; a First Nations-led tertiary education model in Arnhem land; a cross-sector Blueprint to Grow Structured Giving with Philanthropy Australia; an organisational strategy to scale the impact of The Front Project, and an evaluation of Marram-Ngala Ganbu, a First Nations-designed initiative in the Children’s Court of Victoria. Doug also led the implementation of SVA’s Innovation function, which develops and secures funding for new programs of work for SVA.

Prior to joining SVA, Doug worked at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Federal Department of Education and Training as an education policy adviser. Doug also worked as an engagement officer in Central Australia, supporting First Nations communities.

Doug has a double Bachelor of Commerce/Arts from the University of Sydney and is a fellow of Australian Progress.
